In the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine the work concerning search, study and the subsequent declassification of archival documents, which have historical and cultural value, is in process. In particular, the new documents concerning activity of Kyiv Special Military District and Odesa Military District intelligence units, dated January and April, 1941, were just found in the departmental archive of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service.

On October, 26, at the age of 92 the legendary veteran of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, the Honorary President of the Fund of Foreign Intelligence veterans Vasil Omelyanovich Miakushko passed away. Vasil Miakushko will go down as the long-time head of the Ukrainian intelligence of 1 9 6 0 – 1 9 8 0-ties. He contributed greatly to the formation and strengthening of intelligence departments, to collecting political, economic, scientific and technical intelligence and to its implementation at the enterprises of the republic’s powerful defense industry complex. He retired as a major general in 1991.
