Serving the Motherland… In Memory of the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Vyacheslav Abramov

Today, August 29, at the age of 73, Major General ABRAMOV Vyacheslav Volodymyrovych, a Ukrainian statesman, military serviceman, and Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine, passed away.

Vyacheslav Volodymyrovych began his career in foreign intelligence in 1986, from senior operative, chief of department and division to head of the intelligence operations department of the SBU's Main Intelligence Directorate. In 1995–1998, General Abramov headed the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine, making incredible efforts to establish and develop Ukrainian foreign intelligence of independent Ukraine.

The life of the intelligence officer and outstanding personality Vyacheslav Abramov is a bright and worthy example of selfless service to the state and people of Ukraine. His great multifaceted intelligence experience, readiness to perform the most difficult tasks to protect the state, unquestionable authority among subordinates and leadership, wisdom and progressiveness, foresight and high moral qualities, tireless and dedicated service have become a real example of officer’s  duty – to defend Ukraine.

The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine is in mourning with Vyacheslav Volodymyrovych’s family. We express our sincere condolences to the family, friends and all those who had the honor of serving with the Ukrainian intelligence officer and patriot Vyacheslav Abramov.
